Dear Yogis and Non-Yogis,

There is a method called the Fishman Method developed by Dr. Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall that uses specific yoga poses to build bone.  The loss of bone leading to fracture is a disease called Osteoporosis. If you have osteoporosis, thinning bone, and you fall, you risk fracturing a bone.  In order of most prevalent to least prevalent in bone fractures for persons with osteoporosis, is the spine; then, the hips and then the wrists.

One in two women develop osteoporosis and one in five men develop it.

Please join me in my Yoga for Osteoporosis classes to help build bone … your bone!  You do not have to be a yogi.

The current class schedule is Monday nights from 4:45 – 5:45 pm, starting April 24th; and, Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 am, starting April 12th.

Each class is limited to 8 people; please contact Crystal at or call Crystal at 423-431-9358.  Registration is important for these 2 classes.  Space is limited!

I am willing to add more classes based on demand.

Love and light,
Crystal Gray, ERYT500, YACEP

  • Karen Applegate:

I am interested in the yoga for osteoporosis classes. I need to know the cost and what materials are needed, please.

      Hi Karen,
I am glad to hear from you again. Thank you for your persistence; I responded via Facebook on May 2nd. I apologize that that did not make it to you.

The cost is $12/class or $60/6 week session. We are in the mist of 2 6 week sessions, so, if you want to join now, it will be $12/class until the end of the session. Depending on which class you choose to attend, we have a new 6 week session starting on May 24th (Wednesday 10 am) or June 12th (Monday 4:45 pm). Classes last for 60 minutes.

You will need a yoga mat. If you do not have one, I customize yoga mats for $20. I take your height and add 6″ to it. You can also buy one at Target, TJ Max, etc. My mats are 1/4″ thick which is 2x the thickness of most commercially sold mats. Just let me know.

I hope I answered all of your questions. I am also sending you an email that will let you know exactly what to expect in coming into this program. I send it to everyone interested.

Thank you so much. And, I look forward to hearing from you.
